Each year on 2 April, the United Nations designates World Autism Awareness Day, a global call to action for greater understanding and acceptance of individuals on the autism spectrum. In Thailand, this occasion has been marked with events for 18 consecutive years.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme, \u201cAu(tism) of Mind \u2013 The World of the Special\u201d, focused on highlighting the unique perspectives of autistic individuals in creative and meaningful ways.<\/p>\n

On 5\u20136 April 2025, the open-air grounds of Museum Siam were transformed into a space of learning, connection, and inclusion, offering a range of engaging activities designed to bring autistic individuals and the general public closer together.<\/p>\n

This event was made possible through the collaboration of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the Autistic Thai Foundation, the Association of Parents of Thai Persons with Autism, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Museum Siam, Artstory by Autistic Thai, and True Corporation Public Company Limited.<\/p>\n

Visitors of all ages joined the event with openness and curiosity, eager to experience and better understand the world through the eyes of autistic individuals. The event featured a variety of activities that welcomed everyone to take part, share perspectives, and foster deeper empathy.<\/p>\n

One of the highlights was the introduction of four unique characters, each representing distinct traits found in people with autism:
\n\u2022 Waanjai \u2013 gentle and sincere
\n\u2022 Jinjin \u2013 focused and determined
\n\u2022 Jitrid \u2013 creative and unconventional
\n\u2022 Fasol \u2013 sensitive to sensory stimuli and highly perceptive<\/p>\n

In the Artstory by Autistic Thai zone\u2014part of a social enterprise supporting autistic artists\u2014visitors were treated to an exhibition of captivating artworks, each reflecting the unique vision of its creator. Alongside the exhibition, a selection of Artstory-branded products such as tote bags, T-shirts, scarves, notebooks, and mugs featuring these original designs were available for purchase. The artists themselves were on hand to introduce their creations and speak with visitors.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Workshop from Autism offered an open space for autistic individuals to express themselves freely through art, alongside participants of all ages who joined in with enthusiasm. The area buzzed with conversation, focus, and laughter as people of all backgrounds created side by side.<\/p>\n

Another simple yet meaningful activity invited participants to draw or write messages on jigsaw puzzle pieces, expressing their thoughts for the \u201cworld of the special.\u201d These pieces were then assembled into a large puzzle mural\u2014a visual symbol of unity, understanding, and connection.<\/p>\n

A truly memorable moment came when a group of autistic performers took to the stage for a traditional Thai music ensemble, delivering a harmonious performance with poise and concentration. This was followed by a mini concert with indie-pop band \u201cLa-Ong-Fong,\u201d where autistic musicians joined the live show, creating a heartfelt experience for both performers and audience.<\/p>\n

As night fell, the event concluded with the Art Autism Performance on 3D Projection Mapping, a visually stunning display projected onto the historic Museum Siam building. The performance told stories and emotions of autistic individuals through dynamic visuals, music, and artistic interpretation.<\/p>\n

It was more than just a spectacle\u2014it captured the essence of the event\u2019s core message: In the world of the special, there is always beauty\u2014waiting to be seen, if we\u2019re willing to look.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
