February 13, 2026<\/strong> \u2013 True Corporation supported a joint operation with the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD), under the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) in Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai province, to dismantle a suspected call center gang base. The operation focused on investigating internet usage suspected to be illegal and cutting off services immediately after abnormal traffic signals were detected from a suspicious apartment. The objective was to prevent the misuse of internet connectivity, stop unauthorized cross-border signal relay, and disrupt online crime networks linked to transnational operations.<\/p>\n

The operation took place early on Feb. 13, 2026, when officers from the TCSD conducted a search of a suspicious apartment in Mae Sai district in coordination with True, the NBTC, and other operators. The operation followed intelligence and technical findings provided by True as part of an investigation into unusual internet usage patterns. The traffic was found to be continuously high over an extended period, with especially heavy usage during nighttime hours-an indicator considered suspicious. True was therefore asked to support technical verification and on-site inspection.<\/p>\n

Pol. Lt. Col. Trin Leelanuch<\/strong>, Investigator, Technology Crime Division, Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Royal Thai Police, said, \u201cThrough cooperation with True and other operators in cracking down on online scammers, we identified a rented room in an apartment in Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai, near the border, showing unusually high internet usage. We investigated and conducted surveillance until we were confident the usage was illegal. We also found other suspicious indicators, including the renter\u2019s history of prior offenses. We then obtained a court warrant to search the room and found illegal equipment being used to relay internet signals across the border into Myanmar. We worked with True and other operators to immediately cut off the service and seized the illegal equipment as evidence. We are now pursuing the suspects for prosecution.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the inspection, TCSD officers did not find any occupants inside the apartment. However, they discovered equipment used to aggregate internet signals and connect them to distribution devices. The setup appeared consistent with an illegal cross-border internet relay operation. Officers, together with True, immediately cut off the signal and seized the equipment on-site as evidence for legal proceedings.<\/p>\n

Authorities are currently collecting further evidence, identifying individuals involved, and expanding the investigation. Initial findings indicate possible links to a broader network of suspects, which will be used to support deeper investigation leading to arrests and prosecution under Thai law.<\/p>\n
