In today’s fast-paced world where everyone is rushing toward their own goals, stopping to help a stranger is not always an easy decision especially in areas where travel requires extra caution and safety awareness.

True Corporation believes in the power of kindness that comes from individual intentions and values creating an environment that encourages employees to do meaningful things for themselves and society. The company is proud to support stories like that of Hawa Masae from the Southern Regional Management team in Yala Province, who received the 6th “CP Goodness 24hrs” Awards for demonstrating courage, generosity, and putting the public good before personal interest after helping a roadside emergency victim reach safety.

From an Ordinary Workday to a Meaningful Moment

The incident occurred on a normal workday afternoon after Hawa and her colleagues were returning from a field assignment. While driving downhill in the Pase area of Yaha District, Yala Province, an elderly man walking along the roadside suddenly fainted and collapsed in front of the car. Fortunately, because she was not driving fast, she was able to brake in time.

“At that moment, the car stopped in the middle of the road. I hesitated briefly about whether I should get out and check on him because everyone knows there can be security risks in the area. But after looking around and seeing other vehicles still passing by, I quickly decided to help,” Hawa recalled.

“Since I had previously studied as a medical assistant and caregiver for the elderly, I immediately assessed his condition. When I saw that he wasn’t injured, was still conscious, and had enough strength to support himself, I helped him move to a shaded area to rest and brought him water to drink. I stayed with him until I was certain he was safe, then asked nearby villagers to continue looking after him before driving away,” she explained.

The Power of Ordinary People to Create Real Social Impact

Although the incident may seem small, in Thailand’s southern border provinces, stopping to help someone on the roadside is not a decision everyone would easily make. Hawa showed compassion and courage in deciding to help — values that are central to True’s culture.

“When the man regained his strength and awareness and was able to thank me, I felt very happy and proud that even a small act of help could make a difference. If this had happened to someone in my own family or to my parents, I would hope someone would help them in the same way,” Hawa concluded.

The story of Hawa Masae proves that “goodness begins with action,” and that the actions of one ordinary person can inspire others and create positive change that helps make society better every day.
