BANGKOK, 7 July 2026 – Amidst intense global competition to attract tourists, investors, and talent from around the world, the “Pink Economy” is emerging as a new economic driver in the global spotlight, valued at over USD 4.7 trillion and demonstrating continuous growth potential. As Thailand advances toward its goal of hosting World Pride 2030 which is projected to generate over THB 24 billion for the nation’s economy, the critical question today is not whether the opportunity exists, but rather how effectively Thailand can transform this potential into tangible economic growth.
At the recent “PRIDE MOVE: Thailand Pride Economy Forum 2026,” organized by Pride Ready Asia Co., Ltd. and its partners at True Digital Park, Dr. Teeradet Dumrongbhalasith, Chief Business Officer of True Corporation Plc., delivered a keynote address titled “Pride Never Ends: The Endless Move of Diversity.” The session showcased the potential of True Corporation, as Thailand’s leading telecom-tech company, in integrating the power of TrueBusiness’s Mobility Data Platform with EGG Digital’s GeoAnalytics capabilities. This synergy enables the analysis of macro-level statistical data on an anonymous and aggregated basis, ensuring the highest standards of transparency and compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). The insights aim to help the government, private sector, and tourism industry gain a deeper understanding of urban readiness, travel patterns, and market opportunities. Ultimately, this will expand opportunities for diverse businesses and better serve consumers with the increasing fluidity of preferences.
Dr. Teeradet stated that Thailand’s challenge today is not merely being an open and welcoming country for diversity, but rather transforming that diversity into an economic engine. This can be achieved by utilizing data and technology to deeply understand the behaviors of LGBTQIA+ consumers and tourists, enabling both the public and private sectors to leverage these insights. Furthermore, it enhances the nation’s readiness across all dimensions including tourism, hospitality, transportation, living, and investment, while driving the Pride Economy and propelling Thailand from being merely “LGBTQIA+ Friendly” to becoming a true “LGBTQIA+ Destination.
Seizing new economic opportunities with Mobility Data and GeoAnalytics
Dr. Teeradet specified that the key to this drive is understanding people through actual data, rather than relying solely on demographic assumptions. The lack of deep insights into the actual behavior of this group of consumers has led to substantial opportunity loss for many businesses, despite the fact that they are high-purchasing-power consumers who are willing to spend on premium experiences, products, and quality services. Consequently, True has leveraged the potential of Mobility Data and GeoAnalytics to develop an analytical tool for macro-level travel and lifestyle behavior. This tool processes data on an anonymous basis under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), enabling the visualization of spatial movements—ranging from transit patterns and event participation to actual economic activities within each area. This capability will significantly enable businesses and relevant agencies to gain a better understanding of the target group’s lifestyles, travel patterns, and economic behaviors.
Unlocking multidimensional insights from a real-world case study
An intriguing case study involves the data analysis of “Circuit Festival Asia 2025” event. The insights revealed that 61% of the attendees were local Thais, while 26% were roaming from other areas, and 13% were international tourists, primarily from Hong Kong, China, Singapore, and other Asian nations. These deep insights indicate that such events generate a significant economic impact extending far beyond the immediate venue, substantially benefiting transportation, hospitality, consumption, and expenditures across related business supply chains. This reflects Thailand’s potential as a regional event hub and underscores international growth opportunities, which could be further leveraged to attract tourists from Australia and Europe in the future through the advancement of more tailored services and experiences.
Deep Dive into the Pink Economy: Driving the Potential of a High-Purchasing-Power Market
Furthermore, deep insights from TrueBusiness’s Mobility Data Platform and EGG Digital’s GeoAnalytics reveal that the Pink Economy is primarily driven by consumers in Gen Y and Gen X, aged 30–50. This working-age demographic possesses high economic potential, stable incomes, and distinct urban lifestyles, with a strong willingness to spend on high-value experiences. Concurrently, nearly 99% of consumers in this group are health-centric and prioritize Health & Wellness. This reflects a modern consumer trend that moves beyond seeking mere entertainment or social activities to focusing on a peaceful and balanced lifestyle, encompassing food & drink, health, tourism, aesthetic sensibility, and experiences that resonate with their identity. Additionally, their diverse social media usage and preference for premium smartphones further reflect high purchasing power and market potential. This indicates that the Pink Economy is not only a niche market, but a quality consumer segment playing a vital role in growing multiple industries, spanning tourism, hospitality, retail, restaurants, and premium services.
Dr. Teeradet emphasized that the Pink Economy represents a major opportunity for Thailand to transform diversity into tangible economic gains. By connecting data, technology, and deep understanding, all sectors can plan and generate economic value with greater precision. For instance, hotels can predict visitor demand and develop tailored packages for tourists; retail and restaurant businesses can pinpoint premium hotspots and high-density mobility hubs to open stores and curate experiences matching customer lifestyles and niche passions; while cities and government agencies can plan transport networks and infrastructure to ensure seamless, safe, and efficient mobility for massive crowds during international festivals.
“True is poised to connect data, people, and the economic ecosystem to support the growth of an inclusive economy through collaboration across the business sector, government, academia, and civil society. We believe that integrating the power of data, technology, and an understanding of diversity will form a vital foundation for propelling Thailand to become a world-class LGBTQIA+ destination, while driving sustainable long-term economic growth for the country.” Dr. Teeradet concluded.
