As the world faces accelerating change and rapid technological evolution, building a sustainable future requires both collaboration and decisive action across sectors. True Corporation, one of the founding corporate members of the Global Compact Network Thailand (GCNT) since 2018, continues its commitment to sustainable development and balanced economic, social and environmental progress. Most recently, True took part in GCNT EXPO 2026 under the theme “FROM SHOCK TO SHIFT – Sustainable Transition in a Fractured World”, held at True Digital Park, reinforcing its role as a Thai tech company ready to apply digital technology and innovation to create positive impact across every dimension. How can AI and technology become a force for sustainability? True brought the answer to life through a series of highlights across the event.
The event was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), together with Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, Senior Vice Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group and Chairman of the Board of Directors of True Corporation Plc., as President of GCNT, and Ms. Michaela Friberg-Storey, UN Resident Coordinator in Thailand as well as leaders from across sectors who came together to drive the sustainability agenda forward.
True Leadership Vision: The Faster and More Powerful AI Becomes, the More Responsible Its Governance Must Be
A key highlight was the perspective shared by Mr. Sigve Brekke, Group CEO of True Corporation Plc., in his session, “From Algorithmic Shock to Ethical Shift: Why Trust is the Currency of Thailand’s Digital Future”. He compared AI to a supercar: the faster, more powerful and more capable it becomes, the more urgently it needs responsible governance. Without traffic rules or speed limits, that power can also bring greater risk.
As AI increasingly recommends, supports decisions and carries out certain tasks on our behalf, the critical questions become: when AI gets something wrong, who is accountable, who fixes it, and who has the authority to stop it? At True, AI governance therefore spans the full lifecycle, from risk screening and privacy review to human judgment, shared accountability with partners and the establishment of an AI Council. Mr. Sigve also stressed that, as AI adoption accelerates, both business and government must develop Responsible AI frameworks at the same pace, while creating safe testing environments and building the skills needed before scaling AI more broadly.
Bringing the Classroom of the Future to Life and Inspiring Everyone to Help Transform Thai Education
Another True highlight at GCNT EXPO 2026 showed how digital technology can turn sustainability into tangible action. Mr. Sigve Brekke, Group CEO of True Corporation Plc.; Dr. Naetchanok Wipatasinlapin, Chief Sustainability Officer of True Corporation Plc.; and Mr. Chakkrit Urairat, Chief Regulatory and Government Relations of True Corporation Plc., reinforced True’s commitment to creating sustainable value across multiple dimensions from using AI to improve network and energy efficiency, and ensuring e-waste enters proper recycling processes, to strengthening digital safety through True CyberSafe at no additional charge and expanding education and future-skills opportunities for children and teachers nationwide.
That commitment was brought to life at True’s education booth, aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education. Through True Plookpanya and its collaboration with the CONNEXT ED Foundation, True promotes inclusive and equitable access to quality learning while encouraging lifelong learning. The booth recreated a Learning Center, giving visitors a hands-on look at Child-Centric Learning through five steps: Ask Questions – Search for Answers – Learn by Doing Together – Discuss with Reason – Improve toward Excellence. Educational laptops, digital learning media and AI from True were integrated into the experience to help children think, explore, act and discover their own potential. An interactive activity also invited visitors to answer, “What is the first thing you would like to improve in Thai education?”, a reminder that transforming education is not the responsibility of one group alone. Everyone can be part of the change.
Innovation in Action: “True SkyBridge” Drone Speeds Up Medical Logistics
On another stage, Mr. Ekaraj Panjavinin, Head of Research & Innovation, True Corporation Plc., joined a discussion on “Turning Frontier Technology into Real-World Innovation”. He explored True’s innovation journey, from identifying the right problems to solve and evaluating projects against real end-user needs, to testing and scaling solutions that can create broader impact. One case study was “True SkyBridge”, a drone-based system for transporting medicines and medical samples. The solution has been tested in real-world environments, where it must navigate challenges ranging from regulation to weather conditions. Mr. Ekaraj also outlined a platform-based approach to scale, connecting hospitals, systems and multiple drone service providers. The aim is to help address national bottlenecks and enable deep-tech research to move beyond experimentation into practical, wider deployment. “True SkyBridge” was also showcased at GCNT EXPO 2026.
From “Healing Through Art” to a Space Where Everyone Can Create Value
Another heartwarming highlight that brought both smiles and a deeper meaning to sustainability came from True Plookpanya, the Autistic Thai Foundation and Artstory by Autistic Thai, which brought the concept of a shared art-learning space from Artstory Creative Hub to GCNT EXPO 2026 through the “Healing Through Art” workshop. Participants were invited to paint photo-frame magnets made from recycled paper pulp, with autistic artists from Artstory sharing their techniques, guidance and creativity alongside them. More than simply creating a piece of art to take home, the workshop opened a space for people and autistic individuals to learn, communicate and better understand one another through art. It also encouraged society to shift its perspective from seeing autistic people as “recipients of opportunity” to recognizing them as “people with potential and creators of value”. At the same time, the activity connected People, Inclusion and Circularity through the use of recycled materials, while supporting Artstory by Autistic Thai as a Social Enterprise that turns learning and skills into creative work, careers, income and sustainable self-reliance. For True, sustainability is not simply about “giving opportunities”, but about creating spaces and ecosystems where every person’s potential can grow, create value and give back to society, helping build a sustainable future where everyone can grow together.
