Partnering with Chulalongkorn University and PMUC, Southeast Asia’s largest tech hub anchors world-class blueprints from the UK, Singapore, and the Netherlands to establish “South Sukhumvit” as a private-led living lab ahead of ‘The Futurist Summit’ in November 2026
Bangkok, 1 September 2026 — True Digital Park, Southeast Asia’s largest tech and startup hub, has reinforced its position as the leading ecosystem for startups and tech entrepreneurs, connecting Thailand and ASEAN through a landmark multi-nation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Executed in strategic collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University (ARCH CU), the MoU officially establishes “the Global Innovation District Alliance: Cross-Regional Collaboration for Next Generation Innovation Districts in Thailand”, bridging elite academic, policy, and innovation engines across Thailand, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and the Netherlands.
On this occasion, Mr. Danuporn Punnakan, Vice Minister for Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, presided over the MoU signing ceremony, joined by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panit Pujinda, Advisory Director, Center of Excellence in Urban Strategies and Healthy Cities, Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, and Dr. Anchan Chomphuphuang, Deputy Director of the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC). Key signatories and distinguished participants included Ms. Sasithorn Varanyuwatana, General Manager of True Digital Park; Prof. Rungsun Rerknimitr, M.D., Vice President of Chulalongkorn University; Ms. Oranuch Lerdsuwankij, Co-Founder & CEO of Techsauce Media; Prof. Julian Taylor, Executive Head of International Business Engagement, University of Strathclyde; Prof. Sun Sun Lim, Vice President (Partnerships and Engagement) and Lee Kong Chian Professor of Communication & Technology, Singapore Management University (SMU); and Pam Portheine, Social Geography & Urban Planning Expert, Eindhoven International Project Office (EIPO). The ceremony was recently held during Techsauce Global Summit 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
This milestone alliance marks a key breakthrough for the 18-month national research initiative, “Innovation Ecosystem Development for Entrepreneurship and Startups: A Cross-Regional Analysis of EU, UK, and Asian Best Practices,” funded by the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC) and co-driven by TDPK and ARCH CU. To benchmark proven international models, the initiative unites CU Innovation Hub and Tech Ecosystem Builder Techsauce with global institutions, each embedding distinct regional capabilities into Thailand’s innovation framework.
The collaboration integrates three international benchmark pillars into a unified innovation ecosystem, including the United Kingdom, the University of Strathclyde, home to the Technology & Innovation Centre (TIC) and the Strathclyde Entrepreneurial Network (SEN), contributes the Glasgow City Innovation District model to advance technology transfer, academic commercialization, and researcher exchanges. In parallel, Singapore Management University (SMU) anchors bilateral venture corridors and talent development pipelines, driving student internships, joint symposiums, and market-entry initiatives between Singapore and Thailand. From the Netherlands, the Eindhoven International Project Office (EIPO) provides the Brainport Eindhoven blueprint, transferring European best practices in industry-led deep-tech clustering and facilitating cross-regional study visits.
Bridging these global benchmarks into actionable domestic reality, the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University (ARCH CU) delivers the research framework, translating global innovation district models into place-based urban design strategies tailored to the Thai context, while the Chulalongkorn University Innovation Hub (CUIH) acts as the core entrepreneurship and technology commercialization partner, accelerating the translation of academic research into market-ready applications. Alongside these academic engines, True Digital Park serves as the central private-sector infrastructure partner, transforming these spatial and academic insights into real-world market execution, anchoring the South Sukhumvit innovation district as the nation’s inaugural private-led living laboratory. This market-driven approach provides deep-tech ventures with direct corporate access, venture networks, and scalable testbeds across three strategic verticals: Future Food, HealthTech, and Green Innovation.

Building on the momentum of this multi-nation collaboration, the strategic partnership will pave the way for the 10-Year National Innovation District Policy Roadmap. True Digital Park and ARCH CU plan to launch the actionable framework at “The Futurist Summit” in November 2026, strengthening Thailand’s role as Southeast Asia’s premier landing pad for high-tech ventures.
